"Bal Mitra" means "Children's Friend" in Nepali. "B al" means "child" and "Mitra" means "friend" or "companion." Literally, "Bal Mitra" refers to someone who is a friend to children, someone who cares about their well-being and supports them.
"Bal Mitra" also has a more symbolic meaning. It can also refer to a person who advocates for children's rights, works to improve their lives, or simply interacts with them with kindness and respect. The term is often used in Nepal by organizations and individuals dedicated to the welfare of children.
Bal Mitra conducts all of its projects in Nepal. Close collaboration with trusted local associations and monasteries not only facilitates a rapid and effective response to changing circumstances, but also the unbureaucratic transfer of donations.
Bal Mitra identifies new projects organically and in collaboration with a trusted network. A potential new project is carefully reviewed, particularly to assess its compatibility with the association's mission and values.
Bal Mitra meticulously monitors all project activities. Depending on the project, reports are submitted annually, semi-annually, or quarterly. This allows us to keep track of what's happening on the ground. Project regions are also visited annually by people from Bal Mitra or partner organizations.
Your contribution is used directly on the ground in connection with the purpose of your donation.
We take the purpose of each donation very seriously and use it efficiently and purposefully. Donations without a specific goal or project allow us to respond quickly to the changing needs of our projects and provide assistance where it is most needed. Our close collaboration with our local teams allows us to closely monitor the use of funds, including regular accounting follow-up in the respective project country.
